Seaplane Window Planner
Decide whether your international flight will catch the last seaplane — and what to do if it won't.
Unique: factors weather, weight, and immigration time — most blog posts assume "you'll be fine".
What this solves
Most missed-seaplane stories start with: "our flight arrived on time but immigration was 90 minutes." This planner uses immigration time, lounge buffer, last-flight cutoff (16:00), and a wet-season weather risk to give you a single yes/no — and a fallback plan if no.
How to read results
- OK: arrival + immigration + lounge fits inside 16:00 cutoff minus 15-min safety margin.
- Tight: connection is within 30 min of the cutoff — risky in wet season.
- Missed: you cannot make the last seaplane. Speedboat or overnight Hulhumale required.
Limitations
Seaplane operators can and do delay or cancel for weather — even on a "tight but OK" day, ask the lounge staff before paying for the ticket.
FAQ
What if I miss the last seaplane?
Options: (1) speedboat to the resort if available — resorts sometimes run evening boats, (2) overnight in Hulhumale and seaplane next morning, (3) some resorts offer a domestic flight + speedboat combo.
Why is baggage so strict on seaplanes?
Floatplane weight balance is safety-critical. Standard allowance is 20 kg checked + 5 kg hand; overweight is $4–$6/kg and must be paid even for transits.
