Resort Island Size Estimator
Find whether you want a tiny boutique island (β€ 5 ha), a mid-size resort (10β25 ha), or a large resort with three restaurants and a kids' club (40+ ha).
Unique: cross-references walking tolerance Γ dining variety Γ group, instead of just "island length".
What this solves
Brochures never tell you whether the "intimate boutique island" means 20 minutes of walking to the only restaurant. This estimator uses 6 inputs to translate your style into a target island size in hectares, plus the trade-offs of going bigger or smaller.
How to read results
- Boutique (3β7 ha): 1β2 restaurants, one bar, max 60β80 rooms. Walk anywhere in 5 min.
- Mid (10β25 ha): 100β200 rooms, 2β3 restaurants, dive center, decent variety.
- Large (30β80 ha): 200+ rooms, 4+ restaurants, kids' club, multiple pools. Walks are real.
- Flagship (80+ ha): 300+ rooms; you'll likely use a buggy at night. Different product.
Limitations
Island size alone doesn't tell you house-reef quality. A large island can have a poor reef; a small island can sit on a beautiful atoll edge. Always check the reef independently.
FAQ
Is smaller always more romantic?
Often, yes β fewer guests, quieter beach, but fewer dining options and excursions. Couples often like 10β15 ha: the "sweet spot".
Can I walk around a large island at night?
Some resorts offer buggies on call; others expect you to walk. Ask before booking if you'll be at the far restaurant after sunset.
